All Things Witchy is dedicated to helping and aiding fellow witches and magickal folk grow and explore their craft. We also discuss topics that may be sensitive to others.
Witchcraft goes back to the dawn of time, from sage to psychic, magic certainly existed in ancient culture. Egyptians believed in spells after death that would carry them through the afterlife, only to rise from the ashes!
Often times Kings or rulers of ancient lands were accompanied by one healer and one sage (or, as we may call them, witch.) Healers did not have big pharma medicines, in fact most things were herbal, and tonics were freshly made and ground as needed. A root of this, a pinch of herb, ground into a tea or made into a tonic.
Many folk remedies still exist to this day yet our culture frowns upon the power of natural herbs and tonics. Why?
Some may say Greed. The medical industry certainly can’t trademark or copyright or profit from a dandelion, that you can obtain for free as it grows in nature. Dandelions can aid in certain things in your life. Take for instance aspirin, and look up willow bark, you may be surprised that this is nature’s natural aspirin.
In the early 1900’s the medical industry took a for-profit approach, and with the aid of chemical companies, the hand-in-hand let’s get rich together approach has taken root, sprouted and grown into the machine it is today in my opinion, and in theory. Although this website is not intended to cure or treat any disease, it will contain alternative information and old ways before such greed came into place.
Granted, modern sciences and medical technology can be useful, helpful, and in some cases necessary, but why can’t we have a hand in hand approach. For instance, the medical industry may tell you that radiation is suggested for tumor cancer therapy yet they will not tell you about the medical studies of Mistletoe given to patients they with cancer that many had positive outcomes. Why aren’t doctors taught to suggest radition hand in hand with natural healing supplements?
It sort of bothers me that doctors are sworn to take an oath to do the best for their patients, although the industry forces them into a fast paced see-as-many-patients-as-you-can-see world. The olden days the small old time docctors offices were a neighborhood stable, they all saw your family and knew your name and history. Now perhaps your doctor must read your chart because you are one of thousands that comes through his doors, if you are lucky enough to see the same doctor again and again.
Don’t hate the doctors, hate the game. With that said, many more people are learning how to forage and craft their own tonics and tinctures to aid in everyday health and wellness. There’s nothing wrong with using what Mother Nature gave us to help in this endeavor, however, you must know what you are doing.
For instance, medical studies show that injected Mistletoe actual eradicated breast cancer tumors. Source: A pilot study of the mistletoe and breast cancer (MAB) trial: a protocol for a randomised double-blind controlled trial – PubMed
This is just one trial with the said Mistletoe. Back at the dawn of the web, forums were popular. I used to read how many people with breast cancer used to import MIstletoe injectable from a company in Germany. Back then it was in excess of $90 and rising. I remember it costing higher and higher, and soon after the company was eradicated. What happened was it was bought out by Big Pharma, and soon after that it was outlawed to obtain injectable mistletoe into the States . You would read about women doing this at home and injecting their boobs and many with amazing results. Mistletoe is toxic if you were to try this at home, it could kill you. Somehow the German company had a way of extracting the good and expeling the bad, but now we shall never know.
When my husband was sick with Cancer, I gave him all-natural Mistletoe Glycerin drops from Healing Tribes, which I obtained 2 large bottles for about $45. I figured it could not hurt, but maybe help, and when I talked to his surgeron they are the ones that siad it was worth a shot.
There is no proactive approach in the medical industry to tell you these things, in fact, they don’t even learn about herbology (and if so only briefly) in medical school.
You must be proactive in your research and studies and ask your doctor if they are aware of the studies. You can google PUB MED for studies and then consult your medical doctor to see.
Perhaps one day our medical industry could make the cross over into adding natural supplements, and maybe even covering holistic therapies, but don’t hold your breath. Surely you will run out of oxygen before this happens. Greed is real, so mote it be.
